Welcome to Cré the Composting and Anaerobic Digestion Association of Ireland

Established in 2001, Cré (which is the Irish word for ‘soil’) was initially set up to represent the fledging composting sector and in later years developed to include anaerobic digestion in the Republic of Ireland.

It is a non profit association of public and private organisations, dedicated to growing the biological treatment sector. Cré supports the production of high quality outputs, assists the delivery of Government waste diversion and bioenergy targets, and promotes the creation of sustainable indigenous jobs.

Cré Compostable Certification Scheme – www.compostable.ie

The Cré Compostable Certification Scheme is the only Irish scheme providing third party independent assessment that compostable products can be put into food waste recycling bins (brown bins) and processed in industrial composting plants in Ireland
