Cré Workshop on Source Separation of Biowaste, the 5th of February
2004
A very interesting and productive workshop on source separation of
biowaste, orgainised by Cré Composting Association of Ireland
was held in the Lynch Green Isle Hotel, Dublin, on the 5th of February
2004. Attendees at the workshop included local authorities, composting
consultants, facility operators and technology providers. A full list

Presentations were made by the Secretary, Lorraine Herity who reported
back from the ECN workshop on Source Separation of Biowaste held in
Barcelona, the 12th and 13th of December 2003. Other presentations
were made from local authority representatives who have designed and
implemented separate collection schemes for biowaste within their
administrative areas. These included Galway City Council, Galway County
Council, Waterford City Council and Waterford County Council. Caolan
Woods from Natural World Products, gave a presentation on source separation
of biowaste and the problems encountered by facility operators due
to the presence of impurities in the waste stream. Munoo Prasad, Bord
na Mona also gave an update on the development of Cré's submission
regarding the draft discussion document for the ad hoc meeting on
biowaste and sludges.
